Website Updates, GEO Class, and Thoughts on Veganism

The last couple of days I’ve been updating the “Poetry” section, the “Recipes” section, and the sitemap of this website. It feels good to see everything becoming more organised. Yesterday was also the final class of GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation). Now that I understand it better, I’m applying what I learned directly to my site. Hopefully it will bring in more readers — and maybe even some business. I really do need the business: for my mental health, for finishing my house and the yard, and for building a home for Ginger.

The poems in the poetry section were not written by me. I typed them out from a book called Speak Up For The Animals. John, my ex-husband, was the one who originally asked me to share them — though he doesn’t remember that anymore. I was told I have a good voice, but my accent is too “Chinglish,” so I’m asking John to read them aloud instead. Poetry is meant to be heard, and once he records them, I’ll upload the readings to YouTube and embed them directly into my website. Maybe it will help him get more students too 🤞

I know there’s a contrast between the poems (which talk about not harming animals) and my recipes (which include meat). It’s a bit like cats and dogs — they can live together, but not without tension. I’m a meat eater. I tried being vegetarian, but John wanted me to be vegan like him, and that was one of the reasons we couldn’t stay together. Not eating meat is fine for me, but giving up cheese and milk feels too extreme. I love animals, but veganism simply isn’t for me. Still, some of my upcoming recipes will be suitable for non-meat eaters.

I’m continuing to work on my website. If you’re reading this blog post, would you send me a message and let me know what you’d like to see here? Your ideas help me grow this space.
