A Dog That Isn’t Mine, and Definitely Not What I Want

Last Saturday, I spotted a dog in my yard through the CCTV 😲. By the time I got up, it had already found its way out. I noticed a gap in the fencing at the corner between the main road and my street, and the land there is slightly higher, so yesterday I installed a spike on the boundary wall.

I still don’t know where the real loophole is, because somehow the dog managed to get in again this morning. I checked the other two sides of the fencing and tried pulling the bars down a bit, hoping it will stop the dog from squeezing through. I’ll see in the next few days if it works. But I’m pretty sure that dog ate the sponge I left outside for cleaning Ginger and Cross’s bowls — I couldn’t find it anywhere 🧐.

Even though this dog seems harmless, I really don’t want to keep a dog. Not just because I already have Ginger and Cross — who are more than enough to keep me busy — but also because I’m simply not a dog person. I don’t enjoy the responsibility, the noise, or the unpredictable behaviour. Cats fit my life, my routine, and my personality. A dog wandering into my yard is one thing, but having one as a pet is definitely not for me.
