Cat's Spraying
Sometimes I sniff Ginger and Cross to check whether they’ve already pooed, because I don’t want them doing it inside the house if I let them in. But whenever I manage to catch Robyne, she always has this distinct smell I can’t quite describe. A little like stinky feet 👣, but more sour and rancid 🤦.
Last Friday and Saturday night, I had to let Cross and Robyne sleep inside the house. Usually after dinner, Ginger wants me to pet her for a while. I tried to do the same, but then I realized she now wants to sleep indoors while nursing the two kittens. After Ginger's job done. I can show Ginger the way out. But when I couldn’t get Robyne out of the house, I had to let Cross stay in as well. I didn’t want Robyne to feel alone or left behind.
But last night, Robyne drove me crazy. During the day, I prepared a bed upstairs for Ginger and the kittens, and I blocked all the “tunnels” the kittens like to hide in. When Ginger and Cross went upstairs, Ginger noticed the bed immediately, and Cross noticed the missing tunnels. I tried to get Robyne to go upstairs too, but she was so stubborn. I left her alone for a bit, but Ginger wanted everyone together, so she went downstairs to look for Robyne.
As soon as Robyne realized the tunnels were gone, she refused to go upstairs. Ginger then went outside. Cross followed. But Robyne just sat under the sofa. I told her many times to join Mama and Cross. She refused to go out. I felt like a mad woman chasing her around. When she was finally cornered and I grabbed her, she sprayed. I didn’t see it, but the smell was unmistakable. She struggled so hard in my hands, as if she thought I was going to kill her. I told her to stop. For the first time ever, I shouted at her. And she screamed loudly. All I wanted was to take her outside to be with Ginger and Cross. Robyne ran to Ginger immediately. I had to wash my hands and clean the floor again because the smell was unbearable.
Later, Ginger wanted to come in again, and Cross followed her as usual. But this time, I closed the door before Robyne could get in. I didn’t want another fight with her, and I doubt she wanted to come near me either. I explained to Ginger why I didn’t want Robyne inside, though I’m not sure she understood. Half an hour later, Ginger ran out of the house again. I took Cross out too. I could see Ginger looking for Robyne, and she didn’t seem angry at me for leaving her kitten outside.
Is it wrong to separate a kitten from her mom? I didn’t mean to separate them. I just can’t handle Robyne. Like human children, I’m terrible with kids. And Robyne is exactly like a spoiled brat. No matter how many times I try, she doesn’t want me to touch her. I praise her beauty. I tell her I love her. I ask Ginger to look for her when she gets separated from Ginger and Cross. But Robyne still sees me as her enemy. I really don’t understand why.
