Leaking Problem
Some days, this house feels like a test of endurance. In my original plan, there was no skylight and no trap door. But that damn South African changed the design and installed a giant skylight and a trap door on my roof. The problem is: people here simply don’t have the skill to make either of them waterproof, no matter the size. I’ve tried different solutions, but leaking is unavoidable when the rain gets heavy.
Even when it’s not raining, the sun here is scorching. I had replaced three pieces of waterproof canvas up there — they helped for a short while, until the sun turned them into “paper.” Strong winds can tear the canvas into pieces. During the rainy season, I can’t even leave the country, because my house could flood while I’m away.
These last few days, when it rained, my house turned into a raindrop symphony. I had to place buckets under the skylight to catch the water. I’m still searching for a long-term solution, but everything costs money. I just hope I can get more orders, so I can fix things one step at a time.
Ginger's Sterilization
In the middle of all this house trouble, life still goes on — especially with Ginger. I don’t know why Christophe still hasn’t responded to my message. Then I remembered a White lady, Odile, whom I met two years ago when she was searching for her missing dog. We exchanged contacts back then. Sadly, her dog was killed by a reckless driver, and after that we didn’t really stay in touch.
I decided to try my luck and message Odile again. She recommended a nearby veterinarian, Dr. Umika, and even offered to help me take Ginger there for sterilization. She said she could lend me a carrier if I didn’t have one. Thank God — Odile is truly heaven-sent. In a week full of leaking roofs and stress, her kindness felt like a small rescue.
Dr. Umika scheduled the surgery for Thursday morning. I told Ginger about it, though I’m not sure she understands what’s coming. Once she’s sterilized, I’ll feel more at ease letting her meet Lilu. I don’t want any litters of kittens, even though I love cats deeply — and kittens are always adorable. But one step at a time, just like the house repairs.
