GEO – Generative Engine Optimization

I’ve always enjoyed learning new things, and today I started my first class on GEO — the first of four. You might wonder what GEO is. It’s similar to SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but now that we’re fully in the AI era, search engines like Google often give direct answers pulled from their own databases, along with links to the sources. Ranking your website on page 1 through SEO is no longer the whole story. GEO is about understanding how AI systems evaluate and rank your content so it appears in the priority-generated results. It’s a new skill we all need to learn.

This course is taught by Mr. Larry Leung. I don’t know much about him personally, but I do know Fevaworks — I’ve taken quite a few IT-related courses there. I used to sit in a classroom with 20–25 other students, but today I’m sitting in my office in “hell,” attending the course online. Like everything, online learning has its pros and cons.

Pros: I can multitask; I can wear whatever I want (or nothing at all); and I won’t get interrupted by overly curious classmates asking endless questions.

Cons: I don’t get immediate answers when I have a question. And if the teacher misunderstands the question or doesn’t get to the point, then I won’t get the answer at all.

But overall, I still prefer live online classes. One thing I appreciate about Fevaworks is that they allow you to retake classes many times if there’s space. That’s one of their biggest advantages. I took PHP several times with different teachers — and I only paid once. This is my first time taking a course online with them, so I’m not sure if they limit the number of students. I hope not. Either way, I might retake the class if there’s something I don’t fully understand.
