Dessert

I think most women love dessert, and I’m no exception. Dark chocolate is my weakness. This morning I made a simple Chocolate Banana Mousse. It only needs three ingredients: 2 bananas, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, and 240ml of milk. Blend everything until smooth, then cook over low heat for 4–6 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens slightly. Pour it into a mould while still hot, let it cool, and refrigerate. I’m already looking forward to enjoying it tonight.

What I like about this dessert is that it has no added sugar. Many people avoid dessert because of sugar, and I understand why. Bananas are naturally sweet because of their carbohydrates, but at least it’s not refined sugar. Mete (my ex-boyfriend) forbids me from eating anything with sugar or starch. I know he means well, but no one likes being controlled. My body is my choice. If I gain weight, I can always convert that extra energy into muscle when I exercise.

When I was younger, I used to eat a lot of dessert. At buffets, my friends and I treated it like a competition—how much we could eat to make the dinner “worth it.” I don’t even remember the last time I went to a buffet. I’ve changed a lot over the past decade. The mental scar left by that South African, Quian, in 2022 is still difficult to heal. I lost weight down to 38.7kg and looked like a famine victim from Ethiopia. I’m not that thin anymore, but the scar remains. And I hope God will deal with that man and his associates soon. They are one of the major reasons why I call Mauritius a hell.

Oh, by the way, today is my Uncle Ben’s birth anniversary. If he were still alive, he would be 95. I miss him very much.
